PRABAL GURUNG – Fall ’11 RTW Collection
Since February ’09 Singapore born designer Prabal Gurung has been churning out endless beautifully designed collections for the world to see and wear. Gurung is extremely popular amongst the likes of Avatar star Zoe Saldana, long-time actress Demi Moore and even the First Lady Michelle Obama couldn’t resist his creatively daring designs. It appears that this February he has done it again, w00ing the audience at this years New York Fashion Week with his Fall 2011 Ready To Wear collection. Although it pains me to consider the fashion I’ll be wearing in the future icy blizzards of winter 2011 when I’ve barely escaped the clutches of winter past, I have to be completely honest and say something about these pieces induce excitement and thrills within me. Notice the elegant waves of striking chiffon and romantic lace, vibrant reds and dominating blacks contrasting boldly with the opposing softness of gentle nudes and etherial whites and embrace dynamic floor-length maxi’s, subtly proposing the idea they are more than a passing summer trend…
